You know, this is quite different from what I intended to host on this website, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try new things.

YOU KNOW DELTARUNE, YOU FUCKING DICK!!!!!!
Okay, do we understand what deltarune is now? Moving on...
I feel a lot of people don't actually understand what this game is about. And as such I feel the need to give my view on what the story of the game actually is. I may turn out to be horribly wrong, but I feel these ideas, in the current state, have some merit.
The game itself tells us a lot about what it is. In chapter 3, Asriel says the Dark Words are not real. They are merely children's play pretend. Everything in the Dark Worlds is the personification of objects from real life. The border between reality and imagination gets blurrier at night, when the reality of what's in front of you is in doubt.
And we know this is not the first time this play-pretend game happened. Chapter 3, again, has Ramb tell us of the times when Asriel and Kris brought him home from the library, and would play with TENNA!!, "Queen", and $PAMTON. These characters, in the narrative of the Dark World, know each other.
But if it is all play pretend, someone must be telling the story! Well, out of The $!$? Gang, the only one who is familiar with the characters, is Kris. This follows through, we have already seen Kris open up a Dark World in chapter 3. And we know that during the nights Kris locks the soul away in the cage, during which he does things we do not have control over. So it would not be too much of a stretch to say he could have opened the other Dark Fountains as well.
To open new Dark Fountains is to start new stories. The aim of the Roaring Knight is to open new Dark Fountains. This frames the Roaring Knight as a story teller who aims to induce more make-believe. But if the Roaring Knight was the one to open previous fountains, then they must have been close to Kris and Asriel, no? Now who could that be....
It's Dess, okay, Dess Holiday is the Knight, no point beating around the bush. You know it, I know it. No, it's not Rudy, it's not like, Papyrus, okay? Toby is good at running people around in circles just to bring them back where they started. Theorybrain is a real disease and many deltArunE fans suffer from it.
I mean, it makes sense. We are shown Dess is quite a creative kid. Her whole bedroom in chapter 4 is that of an artsy rebellious teen. We know from chapter 3 she used to hang out around the TV!! with the rest of the Dreamurr and Holiday family. We know she used to terrorize Kris (as implied by the dented bat in her room which makes Kirs' head hurt). It's natural then to believe she used to play around with Asriel and Kris when they were all young. That is... until she vanished.
Well, she was the rebel child of the hard working mayor, Carol Holiday. And there were plenty of studious kids (read: nerds) to compare her to. Asriel was a high achiever, implied by his wall of trophies, and current whereabouts at college. Noelle is also implied to be quite a hard working kid when it comes to school. She's very much the teacher's pet archetype. So, when you have such examples, from Carol's perspective, to see your oldest daughter want to pursue music instead, it would anger you.
As discord within the two families grew, the three kids (not including Noelle, her reactions in chapter 2 seem to indicate it might be her first time in a Dark World), saught escape in a world of imagination. This must've been known to some people around town, as implied by Undyne just jumping into the Dark World without breaking the illusion (although, as Asgore used to be the police chief, it's likely Undyne has been around the Dreamurr household, possibly even playing hero in the kid's make-believe). Dess would craft these whole worlds, late at night when they were supposed to sleep, making the shadows on the wall come to life, weaving a narrative for Asriel and Kris out of them. A place where they could be heroes.
She drew inspiration from the PROPHECY they heard of at church, the various computer games they used to play, the TV!! SHOWS!! they used to watch. But Dess wanted to work on bigger things. She was a musician. And she wanted to create her first album to put herself out there. Hell, Asriel was going to go to college at some point, and she would be left behind. This was her way out. But she met heavy resistance. But one day, she did it, and even got it pressed on a the black, glass-like surface of a vinyl record. One day, she played it for all to see in the Dreamurr living room...
An argument went down that night. In the commotion, the disc was shattered into Black Shards. The sleve, the "Shadow Mantle" in which the black disk used to reside, fell somewhere behind the TV!! and was forgotten. It was a traumatic night for young Kris. And a heart-breaking night for Dess, which resulted in her running away in the forest.
At the time of the game, however, Kris is far enough removed from the events of that night, and lonely enough, that he decides to take their new friend, Susie, into the Dark World. It is likely the first Dark World was a means of Kris creating a story in order to bond with her. What is sure is that, at this time, Kris becomes the story-teller, taking the role Dess used to hold. The Knight, be it Dess, or a representation of her, even knights Kris to mark the passing of the torch at the end of chapter 3.
Well, we know the next Dark World will take place in the Flower King shop, ran by Asgore. Toriel was asleep for the chapter 3 Dark World. There is no fictional world she wishes to escape to. As seen by the end of chapter 4, she found her escapism in other ways. However, the same cannot be said for Asgore. His life has been only getting worse. First the event with Dess, then the divorce, God knows if he even knows what is happening between Toriel and Sans. Asgore wants escapism. And he will create it if needs be.
What about the prophecy? What is the end of the prophecy? Well... from what I can glean from Susie's reaction, of breaking the last panel, compounded with the mental battles Susie fought so far, I can only assume the end of the prophecy is that they must grow out of play-pretend. The end of the prophecy, the only way to prevent the world from being engulfed in darkness (which we know in the deltArunE context means imagination) is to leave imagination behind, and abandon all these Dark World characters in childhood. After all, your choices don't matter! At some point you must wake up, mature, and be an adult.
However we know that's not the case. After all, would we be playing this game if Toby Fox left his Dark World fully behind? But at that age, when adult life feels right around the corner, it sometimes really does feel that the way ahead will be nothing but boring reality. The truth is, which Kris and Susie must learn, that you can find a balance between reality and imagination.
But what about Ralsei? We barely spoke of him! He obviously knows more than he leads on. What is he? He isn't any of the items, that much we basically know!
Well, I propose that Ralsei is Kirs' perception of Asriel. He does not reflect how Asriel was in the story of UNDERTALE, in any of his itterations. Not perfectly, anyway. And he doesn't reflect how Asriel is in the story of deltArunE. But elements of both carry over. Neither give us a full view of Asriel, but we can assume they are similar in character. Ralsei, however, appears to be how he would be perceived from Kris' lens, with some flexibility for Kris to form him to their Dark World narrative.
Yeah, I have a theory for how this blends in too. Undertale is a Dark World. Not one made by Dess, and not one made by Kris. Instead one made by Asriel to provide Kris some form of escapism after the night of the family argument where Dess ran away. This explains the lack of the Holiday family in the game (as it would be too sensitive a subject), the lack of Susie (as she likely had not moved in yet), and how otherwise normal monsters (teachers, cops, gardners), become fantastical characters (scientists, heroes, kings). It's similar yet different to the Dark Worlds in deltArunE, because they are authored by a different person. This explains the saving. Kris was allowed to try over and over again to beat a challenge Asriel posed to him. This explains the 4th wall breaks. Of course Asriel would tease Kris through the characters. This explains how Asriel depicts himself in the boss fight we have with him at the end of UNDERTALE.
Moreover, this explains art therapy. These play-pretend were amateur to be art therapy. But something went wrong. The more Asriel played with Kris, the more Kirs got curious. What would happen if I killed someone? What would happen if I killed multiple people? What would happen if I killed everyone? Picture you are Asriel, putting on a show for your little brother after he's been through something traumatic, and he decides he will kill all these characters based on your real life friends and family. Would you find that a bit worrying? I think I would. I think Toriel did. I think this is why she sent Kris to actual art therapy. I think these are the violent tendencies mentioned ("this is where we draw pictures and we don't kill each other").
This might be a bit of a stretch. I'm sure it is. But it does somewhat work, doesn't it? It feels like some pieces are falling into place. Time will tell if any of this is real. I don't know many things. What is Friend? Where is Dess? Will it Lâ™ NCER? Who knows?!
END.
